Home Remedy for Earache

January 3rd, 2008 · No Comments · Home Remedies

An ear ache is often associated with childhood. Many of us can remember being treated for the pain in our ear by dear old mom. If you’ve forgotten and need to remember a great home remedy for an earache, check our list below.

Please remember though, if the pain persists, there may be a more serious problem. Get the attention necessary.

Top Home Remedies to Treat an Earache:

Hydrogen Peroxide - Place in ear with your head down and ear up. Let it soak for a while. Then turn and drain and apply a heating pad. Repeat several times. May soften up any extra wax causing the pain and help it come out.

Hair Dryer - set on low and held at least 7 or 8 inches from the ear while you are lying down. May help relieve the pain.

Garlic and Olive Oil - Put a piece of raw garlic in a cotton ball. Soak the cotton ball in olive oil. Place the ball in your ear. Wait overnight. May help by the next morning.

Garlic Oil - Often taken in gel cap forms daily, these can be pierced and the liquid dripped into the affected ear. Place a heating pad on the ear afterwards.

Colloidal Siver - a few drops in the ear might help.

Prevention of Earaches:

Don’t blow your nose too hard.

Please don’t smoke and avoid second hand smoke as much as possible.

Wear earplugs when swimming and avoid unclean waters. Make sure to drain and dry your ears well after swimming and bathing.

Keep in mind that these home remedies are meant to help alleviate the pain associated with an ear ache, and not the cause. Please seek treatment if you suspect an ear infection.

We hope you find one home remedy for an earache to be useful!
